Maysville Elementary School

Maysville Elementary School is a proudly designated Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School, a distinction that highlights the exceptional dedication of our educators and the incredible potential of our children. To protect this standard of academic excellence, we must actively safeguard the learning environment from outside disruptions, including the rising threat of chronic industrial noise pollution which studies show directly impairs reading comprehension, concentration, and long-term cognitive development in developing minds.

Furthermore, our students are already drinking and washing their hands daily using City of Maysville municipal water, a reality that demands absolute transparency and rigorous, independent oversight to ensure its safety and protect our children's health.

The Governor's Office of Student  Achievement shows the below grades for the 2024-2025 school year.

  • Students Reading Proficiently in 3rd Grade (Reading at grade level and above the Lexile midpoint): 39.0%

  • Students Reading Proficiently in 5th Grade (Reading at grade level and above the Lexile midpoint): 57.7%

  • Maysville Elementary School's CCRPI Single Score: 79.1

"We demonstrate for the first time that chronic noise exposure is associated with elevated neuroendocrine and cardiovascular measures, muted cardiovascular reactivity to a task presented under acute noise, deficits in a standardized reading test administered under quiet conditions, poorer long-term memory, and diminished quality of life on a standardized index Children in high-noise areas also showed evidence of poor persistence on challenging tasks and habituation to auditory distraction on a signal-to-noise task "

"available evidence indicates that enduring exposure to environmental noise may affect children's cognitive development."

" Evidence from epidemiological studies shows that acoustic pollution can impact human health, and the effects may be stronger in susceptible and sensitive individuals."

"There is robust evidence for an effect of school noise exposure on children’s cognitive skills such as reading and memory, as well as on standardized academic test scores."

"Environmental noise has been repeatedly linked to negative effects on cognitive functioning among children and adolescents."

Subject: Urgent: Maysville Residents Demand Protection for Our School, Water, and Land

Dear [Representative Name],

I am writing to you today as a concerned member of the Maysville community regarding the development of the Maysville Data Center Campus. Our community's safety relies entirely on the protection of our clean water, our agricultural land, and our local schools.

Standing up for our children and ensuring they have a safe environment to grow up in is our highest priority and a moral duty. We urge you to put conservation and community welfare ahead of industrial expansion. Please vote and advocate for policies that preserve Maysville’s land and protect our families for generations to come.

Sincerely, [Your Name]

Call Script

"Hello, my name is [Your Name], and I am a resident of the Maysville community.

I am calling today to urge [Official's Name] to oppose the proposed Maysville Data Center Campus. Like many of my neighbors, I am deeply concerned about the threat this industrial development poses to our clean water supply, our agricultural heritage, and our local schools.

Protecting our natural resources and our children’s environment is absolutely non-negotiable for our community. Can we count on [Official's Name] to stand with residents and commit to protecting Maysville’s land and resources?

Thank you for your time and for passing this message along."
